Sunrise EP5 - Ooh Aah

Now, it 's time for more toilets! 

Sorry, that is not Ducky! 😁 But I imagined he could make the same expression like that when he started to use the smart toilet. Ducky determined to install a smart toilet in the master bedroom. We went through couple of YouTube videos with lots of laughs. Finally he ordered one during Memorial day weekend.

Sunrise EP4 - Countertops and Backsplash

Ducky and I stopped by Legacy Countertops warehouse on Saturday May 11, 2024. LoL, I even wrote the exact date.

I knew nothing about stones. All I knew was I wanted something that would not easily get scritches and scratches on the surface. My current countertop was just a simple kind. I did not know how to call the material, laminated wood or formica laminate or ??  Well, through time of cooking, baking, sewing, and all kinds of works on the top, it showed scritches and scratches. 

After the visit at the Legacy Countertops, I started to do more research on the stones and the fabricators,

Cambria Quartz stones are so beautiful! I had zero knowledge that Quartz stones are engineered stones. No matter how Cambria's Quartz looks so dramatic in all of their patterns, for some reasons, after getting to know the fact, I started to lose interest in it. 😄

MC Granite lists lots of beautiful Quarzite patterns which are supplied by Exotic Stone Imports. 

Ducky's preference was Quartzite from the beginning. I did not understand what Quartzite meant at first but now I know and I like it too. Granite is not for both of us. We both just don't like those speckles on the stone. Marble? I don't know why but we never mentioned Marble at all. For Quartzite, Ducky said he liked the natural vein pattern on the stone. I called it the Flow of Life!  Our blood veins are the flow of life of our bodies.  Rivers are the flow of life of the earth. Hence, to me, Quartzite veins are also the Flow of Life of the nature!

Can't wait for Ducky to come back on June 10.  Then, we will go checkout more Quartzites stones at MC Granite over Jasper, Georgia, about 30 miles or 50 minutes away from our Sunrise home.  Can't wait to see which Quartzite pattern will be our final pick!  Would it be Infinity White?

Sunrise EP3 - Kitchen Cabinets Finally!

Ducky came back from St. Louis, Missouri on Saturday May 4. I went to stay at the Sunrise house with Ducky from May 5 - May 11. This time, I did not get to help much as I needed to work but luckily from his home office. Ducky spent most of this week to finish up cabinets. It was very impressive. From pieces and pieces out of boxes and boxes, they then turned into cabinets and nicely lined up on the walls and floors. MUA MUA MUA to Ducky!  😚😚😘

Sunrise EP2 - Filling holes and caulking

As I needed to use up my PTO of 2023 before the end of March 2024, so, I spent March 23 - March 30 with Ducky. He just got back from Arizona. Ducky 's project during my visit this time was painting lots of trims big and small. He worked on lots other things as well and also started to put kitchen cabinets together. We also got to throw lots of old sidings and stuff in the big dumpster he rent for 2 weeks. He also discussed with a lawn care guy and hired the guy to clean up fall leaves around the house, plus have the guy to help maintain the yard around the house. Ron showed up as usual to continue with outside siding and also inside trimming. 

My job during this visit was to fill the trims' nails holes and caulk the floor trims.  It sounded like a simple job and indeed it was simple but all I felt each day was how come there were still more and more holes even I had finished filling up those holes already. 😂 Ducky taught me how to caulk the trims. It took me almost all day just to caulk the trims in the master bedroom. Well, maybe couple hours.  😄  And I wasted lots of excess caulk. The room color is dark blue and the trims are white. I could have done 2 or 3 times faster if the room was also white. 😆 By now, I think I have already mastered holes filling and trims caulking skills.

Sunrise EP1 - Yuki on the Fan

My first time visiting Sunrise house was in November 2023.  It was my 2nd date with Ducky. 😁
I was thinking, "Really? No kitchen, one bathroom sink for all purposes?"  LoL  Yes, it was real. Bathroom sink for washing dishes, bathroom sink for washing paint brushes, bathroom sink for washing coffee pot, bathroom sink for etc.....anything... and everything.  😄

But that did not bother me at all. Just being with Ducky, it was so fun, has been so fun, is always fun and we could observe the house being gradually built a little by little until eventually it will be finished!

I did not start to help Ducky until February 2024. My first job was to paint the living room light bowl for Yuki, our adorable monkey on the Fanimation ceiling fan. Ducky did a wonderful job putting the fan together and installed it with his electrician. He said the fan weighed about 150 lbs (30 lbs more than my weight! 😀) and it took him and his electrician 4 hours to complete the installation.
